4 Questions Every Budtender Must Have Answers For

Posted by Patrick Vedder on

When you take a job as a budtender there are some obvious things you need to know about, like the strains of marijuana you sell and what your customers can expect from each product you sell.

Many people who smoke marijuana think that will qualify them to become a budtender, but it's not true as there are legal issues to be aware of.

There is a lot to know and learn about cannabis and edibles if you want to become a good budtender that can actually help your patients / customers buy the best product for their specific needs.

Even things like knowing how to use a POS is very important and some people have never used one before.

But there are 4 key questions that every budtender should be able to answer.

1. Is there an advantage to vaping instead of smoking?

The last few years has seen a huge growth in people vaping and most people just assume it's safer and better for you than smoking.

One obvious benefit of vaping is that it's been shown to reduce how much carcinogens and toxins are ingested by the patient.

An experienced and educated budtender would typically recommend vaping for customers who have respiratory problems like asthma or COPD.
In addition many experts believe that vaping is more efficient and offers a stronger effect from the same amount of cannabis.
Vaping is obviously a bit more discreet and a lot of users think it smells and tastes better.

 2. What Are The Legal Limits For Medical Marijuana

A lot of patients will want to know about any legal issues when it comes to buying medical marijuana (or any marijuana for that matter).

Every budtender should know their state's medical marijuana laws.

Currently, each state has regulations regarding the use of cannabis while operating a motor vehicle.

  1. What Are The Differences Between Sativa and Indica

This is probably the most common question that a budtender will get asked.

Budtenders should keep it simple and and focus on explaining the effects of each.

A good budtender should be able to suggest hybrid strains, which are a happy balance of both indica and sativa.

  1. What's The Difference Between CBD and THC

This question is asked quite often about the differences between THC and CBD. Budtenders need to be able to explain that THC is the active cannabinoid in marijuana and simply put, THC gets you high.

CBD is a non psychoactive cannabinoid and is used mostly commonly for medicinal purposes.

Make sure your budtenders know these answers, as dispensary customers will expect your staff to be knowledgeable.
